The Fayetteville High School system began generating power on September 3, 1999. It has one of the longest DC conduit runs of any of the Watts on Schools systems. Line losses on the DC run may cause the total output of this system to be slightly less than that of other systems we have installed. The system is rated at 4 kilowatts. The City of Fayetteville was incorporated on August 23, 1870 in Washington County, Northwest Arkansas. Fayetteville is located in the heart of Mid-America. At the foothills of the Ozark Mountains, Fayetteville is 25 miles from the Arkansas-Missouri border and 14 miles from the Arkansas-Oklahoma border. Fayetteville is part of the Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers MSA (Metropolitan Statistical Area) comprised of Washington and Benton counties. This MSA is one of 4 located in Arkansas and 323 in the United States. Fayetteville's population is over 51,200 with a density of 1.66 persons per acre or 969 persons per square mile. The highest point in the city is 1,720 feet above sea level; the lowest point 1,100 feet above sea level. The city is home to the University of Arkansas.
